Rita Giesbrecht, President

Rita has been a resident of the South Cariboo since 1990. Community participation has been a core value for her entire life, raising her children to be contributing citizens by consistently modelling the principle that it is everyone’s responsibility to build the community that they want to live in.
Now serving her 5th year as a board member of Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre, Rita has also been active in arts organizations; food security and agriculture economic development projects; sat on the industry advisory council of the innovative Applied Sustainable Ranching Program for TRU Williams Lake and was a founding director, active for 10 years, in the development of the Agri-Culture Enterprise Centre until it’s dissolution in 2019.
Her work life currently is in partnership with  husband Chris Harris, who is a wilderness photographer and together they are an independent publishing company dedicated to increasing awareness of and value for the Cariboo Chilcotin region of BC.

Robin Hunt, Director

Robin Hunt is passionate about our farmers, from sitting on the South Cariboo Farmers Market board to coordinating central BC events with Young Agrarians to working alongside Small Scale Meat Producers Association and running her own farm Big Rock Ranch with her husband Johan Bos. Originally from the lower mainland, she saw the real disconnect from our farms and farmer as most people shopped at their local large box grocery stores and never had a relationship of where their food was coming from. Her passion started as hobbyist farmer in her late teens and then followed into a full-fledged career, now farming 148-acre ranch in Buffalo Creek BC she raises heritage layers and meat birds, runs a 1 acre mixed fruit and vegetable market garden and runs a tiny home B&B. She loves to see the community a farmers market creates, the access to business opportunities for farmers and crafters alike, and the face-to-face experience of shopping at your local farmers market.

John McCarvill

John McCarvill has lived in the Cariboo for 30 years and during this time he has been a successful restaurateur, consultant to business, First Nation communities and not for profit organizations. He and his wife Evva now live in 100 Mile House on a farm where they breed and train performance quarter horses. John has always been involved in community development and has sat on several boards in the Cariboo region.
