Robin Hunt, President
Robin Hunt is passionate about our farmers, from sitting on the South Cariboo Farmers Market board to coordinating central BC events with Young Agrarians to working alongside Small Scale Meat Producers Association and running her own farm Big Rock Ranch with her husband Johan Bos. Originally from the lower mainland, she saw the real disconnect from our farms and farmer as most people shopped at their local large box grocery stores and never had a relationship of where their food was coming from. Her passion started as hobbyist farmer in her late teens and then followed into a full-fledged career, now farming 148-acre ranch in Buffalo Creek BC she raises heritage layers and meat birds, runs a 1 acre mixed fruit and vegetable market garden and runs a tiny home B&B. She loves to see the community a farmers market creates, the access to business opportunities for farmers and crafters alike, and the face-to-face experience of shopping at your local farmers market.
Howie McMillan, Treasurer
Born and raised in the South Cariboo, I’ve always had an affinity for local food and local farmers. In recent years this attraction to local food and farmers has evolved into an outright passion! Now entering my second year on the SCFM Board, I’m keen to contribute whatever I can to the success of the market and its growing group of vendors. I bring many years of experience on numerous local Boards, including service as Treasurer for three different non-profits. Hope to see all of you at this year’s Farmers’ Market!
My name is Bonnie Reith. I have been involved with the South Cariboo Farmers Market since 2010, initially as a customer, then vendor, then becoming secretary on the Board of Directors. I have gardened all my life and do occasionally vend at the market, but mostly I am here because I love the market, the people, and the vibrancy it brings to 100 Mile House. Supporting the market, and the vendors while soaking up the ambiance of working within a great community brings me joy. Oh, and I sell plants
My second year at the board of the farmers Market. Passionate about local food security and business development for the area. Looking forward to grow the market and inspire other people to join the farmers market. For 2019 I would like to see more producers and local produce sold at the market. Let’s make 2019 the best market yet
I am a fairly new transplant to the Cariboo,34 years old and married Two young wonderful Boys, Jackson and Bentley. I work at the hospital and own the small business sweet lavations which specializes in Bath and body products. I have served on a variety of boards and committees in the last ten years, And have a real passion for building our community. I always loved the diversity of local fresh homegrown or handmade goods offered at the farmers market and as a vendor myself I wholly believe in creating a culture around local goods and accessibility. I have recently started organizing markets in my community and I look forward to creating the type of environment and culture that can benefit so many people from local artisans to food banks.
I live on my homestead in Lone Butte with my husband and our animals. I am the owner of a growing artisan bath and beauty company, passionately formulating products that have minimal ingredients and are great for the skin. I love being able to engage and interact with customers at markets. I’ve been attending the farmers market for 3 years and I’m looking forward to being a member of the board and helping the market to grow even more. I love being outdoors and enjoying all the activities that the Cariboo region has to offer. You can find more about the products I offer at square.com/store/naturalsbyamy
